The first ever rivalry week is in the books and there is a lot to talk about.
For starters, last year's champs are this year's chumps of week 1. The Wangs got crushed by a bad team and should have done worse. On Sunday, the mighty Trolley Dodgers decided it was a good idea to start Rajai Davis over Paul Konerko... hold on right there. They must have been up 10 homers and 20 rbis... right? Nope, they were in a dog fight in both categories, but thought Rajai might steal a base. I would have gone for steals with two power categories (not to mention avg) in doubt too.... The Captain hit two homers and the Wangs held on to homers by, you guessed it, 2 homers.
In other action, the L-Trains pulled off a stunning victory. The L-Trains' best three players Albert Pujols (.143 avg), Carl Crawford (.132 avg), and Cliff Lee (7.84 era) were all terrible. Also, the L-Trains opponent hit 23 homers and 63 RBI to lead all teams. Despite this, the L-Trains picked up a win thanks to great management (Carlos Quentin, Derek Holland Sunday add), Jered Weaver (3 W, 743 Ks), and their much criticized White Sox rotation (41ip, 3W, 46ks, 2.85 era, 1.10 whip - how are your 6-9 pitchers doing????).
In the other two matchups, the Dynasty held on to defeat the SSHM in a close matchup. The Hitmen were fortunate to have kept it close, as they were the worst team on the week and deserved a 7-3 loss. Also, the OGs took down Miggy's DDs and were the best team in Week 1. They went 6-1 in matchups, losing only to the Giant Killers who were also 6-1 in matchups (and 0-1 in matchups that count). I'm giving the OGs the tiebreak since they won this week. The Trolley Dodgers take home the first Trolley Dodger Award of the year, winning 8-4 and deserving far less.

ReplyDeleteMy fantasy season is complete.
in the trolley dodgers defense......
ReplyDelete1) the real decision was to start matt holliday over konerko. that was the best compromise to get steals and other categories
2) it only cost the TDs a half a point
there's not a person in the world who would disagree that rajai is a lock when you need to choose 2 of 3: holliday, konerko, rajai davis.......
