Week 3 Recap: Luck of the Draw

I'm posting early with unofficial numbers. I'll update if Yahoo changes anything overnight, but I wanted to get this out while it's fresh...

The last two unbeatens went into Sunday night baseball trailing and both came away with victories. The L-Trains were forced to use an extra add to take K's thanks to Roy Halladay's career best 14 K performance Sunday afternoon. Volquez quickly picked up the needed Ks and Brandon Phillips ripped two doubles as the L-Trains rallied from a 7-4 deficit to win 6-5. On a side note, at this time last year the L-Trains were 2-40 in ERA and WHIP. This year? The L-Trains are 39-3.

The other unbeaten, Los Trolley Dodgers, trailed 6-5 and were down only one hundredth of an ERA point. That is when the luck of the Trolley Dodger took over. Moments after I signed Edinson Volquez from my parents' living room on my HTC EVO powered by Sprint, I received two text messages from manager TJ Maarup. "Ass." "Beat me by 10 seconds. [I was using my slow crappy ass Mac]" The TDs decided to go with Cardinals closer Mitchell Boggs instead, even though the St. Louis area was about to be hit by an enormous rain storm that was already threatening the game. As luck would have it, the rains held off, Boggs pitched a scoreless 9th, Holliday scored a run, and the TDs won 6-4 to tie the L-Trains for 1st place. IF the TDs had gotten their man Volquez, they would have lost ERA and tied the DDs.

Speaking of luck, the unfortunate Wangs lost this week despite killing everyone except the Mighty L-Trains. The best two teams played each other and the L-Trains came out on top. Also, the worst two teams played each other in an embarrassing 5-4 SSHM win. The Ozzie Guillens would have put up no more than 2 points vs ANY other opponent this week. Instead of repeating that I'm just goint to show you:
L-Trains 11 - OGs 1
GKs 8 - OGs 1
TDs 9 - OGs 1
Dynasty 11 - OGs 1
Wangs 11 - OGs 1
DDs 9 - OGs 2
That's 7 TOTAL points vs other opponents and 4 real points vs. the SSHM. The Hitmen weren't much better. They put up only 2 points vs. every other opponent except for the Trolley Dodgers, who they scored 4 on.... yes, the Trolley Dodgers, the 3-0 FIRST PLACE Trolley Dodgers.... I don't know who to give the TD Award to with all this ridiculous luck.

Finally, in the other matchup- The Dynasty made the add of the century by picking up 2 start pitcher James Shields who proceeded to throw TWO complete games this week. He single handedly swayed 4 pitching categories to beat the lowly Giant Killers.

Here's what you deserved this week:

Team W L T
L-Trains 9 3 0
Wang 8 3 1
Dynasty 6 5 1
GKs 5 5 2
TDs 5 5 2
DDs 5 6 1

Ozzie 2 9 1
