Week 21 Recap: It Doesn't Take A Doctor To Mismanage Your Way Out of the Playoffs

Don't they teach doctors how to prevent death by choking anymore?

Let me start by giving credit where credit is due: Hats off to TheOzzieGuillens. They aren't going to make the playoffs, but they haven't stopped managing and played a great spoiler this week. Also, congrats to The Dynasty on clinching the first official playoff berth and the regular season championship.

Now to the chokers, specifically the doctors (we'll get to you later DDs). Isn't general knowledge of current events included on the MCAT? Is that when you stop paying attention? NEWSFLASH: THERE WAS A HURRICANE ON THE EAST COAST THIS WEEKEND. The forecast was so bad that several baseball games were postponed well in advance. I can only guess by the way you managed your teams that you didn't know about this.

Both the TDs and Wangs could use 6 adds per week all the way through the championship. Despite that, both teams chose to leave adds on the board even with the hurricane. The Wangs had 7 hitters rained out over Saturday and Sunday. Could they have caught the OGs with their 2 wasted adds? No. Could they have won a category or two? Maybe, but we'll never know. Now they are 2 games out of the playoffs. Meanwhile the TDs left 4 adds on the board AND added a pitcher late Saturday night who was scheduled to pitch a game on Sunday... a game that had been rained out.... since... FRIDAY. Could those adds have really helped? Ask The South Side Hit Men, who will finish in last place, but managed the hurricane brilliantly - adding players on Saturday and then again on Sunday to end up with 60 more ABs than the L-Trains. Those ABs helped the SSHM win by 2 runs, 1 HR, and 1 2B.

In the other meaningful matchup, the DDs didn't have a stellar managerial week either. For the second straight week, the DDs have forgotten to start their pitchers. This week, it cost them K's - last week it was Wins. They also picked up Brian Matusz when it was already too late to put him into the lineup and picked up Jason Vargas who was lit up by the high powered Charlotte Knights lineup. His 2 Ks were not enough to overcome their previous gaffe. The DDs are still alive despite losing 7 of the last 8 weeks. They will likely need to blowout the Week 21 Spoiler OGs and get some help from the L-Trains to earn a first round playoff loss.

At least one of these 3 teams is going to make the playoffs and possibly two. The other team in contention is The Giant Killers who have put together a remarkable second half after forgetting to draft pitchers in March. Slowly but surely the GKs have climbed back into the race and now find themselves in 3rd place heading into their final matchup with the resting 2nd Place L-Trains.

There's one week left and 6 teams are still mathematically alive for the 4 playoff spots.

Here's what you deserved in Week 21:
