The World Champion L-Trains are poised to add another trophy to their trophy case after yet another spectacular draft. When it comes to the draft, everyone has a plan. The good managers are able to adjust their plan based on the way the draft is going. The bad managers end up with Tommy Hanson as their number 1 pitcher. The great managers correctly predict the way the draft will go and don't need adjustments.
The L-Trains draft plan was perfect. The L-Trains shocked a few people in the room by selecting a pitcher, Tim Lincecum, with the first pick (even though manager John Leyhane had been saying he would take Lincecum ever since his victory in the semi-finals over The Dynasty). That pick started a trend of pitchers getting selected early and often. With the next several picks, the L-Trains took lots of starting pitching and solid players at each of the difficult to replace positions. If things don't work out with the high ceiling outfield of Adam Lind, Pac Man Jones, and Carlos "Hard Hittin" Quentin, they can easily be replaced with free agents. Keep in mind 2nd round picks Kendry Morales and Justin Upton were two of the many undrafted outfielders from last year that found their way into teams' starting lineups.
The L-Trains are happy to welcome back returning players Jimmy Rollins, Robinson Cano, David Ortiz, Brett Anderson, Scott Kazmir, and of course Albert Pujols. Also rejoining the L-Trains are players who won a ring with the L-Trains in 2009, but were not on the final roster: James Shields, Adam "Pac Man" Jones, and Kevin Youkilis.
