Sunday Night Baseball

The playoff race goes down to the final game with three teams fighting for the last two spots... well two teams fighting, while the other has to watch and hope.

The Giant Killers did not take care of business and as a result, are now in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. They have no players left. The L-Trains have assured themselves an 8-3 win (unless Hudson strikes out 19). They can win 9-3 if Pujols gets an rbi. That is the only possible change in the L-Trains / SSHM matchup. In the Giant Killers / Fellows matchup, the Fellows have Brian McCann and Alex Gonzalez. They currently trail by 2 runs, 2 rbi, and are tied in HR (net -2). For the purposes of the possibilities below, I'll only consider those three categories changing, however, the Fellows could lose batting average if McCann and Gonzo go a combined 0/9 (0/8 is a tie). Here are the possibilities:

L-Trains advance if:
  • Pujols RBI AND Fellows net -2 in the 3 categories
  • Pujols RBI and Fellows net +1 in the 3 categories
  • Fellows net +2 or more in the 3 categories
Fellows advance if:
  • Pujols doesn't get an RBI
  • Fellows net -1 or more in the 3 categories ( if any of the numbers move)
GKs advance if:
  • GKs net 0 or more in the 3 categories
  • GKs net -1 or more in the 3 categories and Pujols doesn't get an RBI
