That's right, spring training is upon us and I can think of nothing I'd rather do than put all seven of you on blast. Starting with the founding fathers -
L-Trains - Amidst constant proclamations of how "awesome" the L-Trains are, several glaring holes on the L-Train roster will be exposed. GM Leyhane's blatant disregard for WHIP and affinity for "softball players" will ultimately be the team's downfall.
The Dynasty - GM Martin will lose countless hours of sleep contemplating a new team name that actually applies to his team. Eyes half shut and body weary from sleep deprivation, he will make several questionable draft day decisions including drafting Stephen Strasburg in the second round ("We love huge upside potential" he reasons) and "holding out" for Mo Vaughn at 1B. (Team Name Pending) never recovers.
The Trolley Dodgers - GM Maarup's infatuation with C Joe Mauer turns into a full blown obsession and the team is abandoned mid-season. The Trolley Dodgers last roster move will come on July 19, 2011 (a Joe Beimel add). GM Maarup will be last spotted on August 2, 2011 in St. Paul, Minnesota wearing a Joe Mauer jersey and holding two dozen long-stem red roses.
The Rise of Wang - GM Kelly plays a solid fantasy game all season, but ultimately loses a rematch of the 2010 championship to The Giant Killers. GM Kelly's head really isn't in the fantasy baseball game, as he's busy preparing Notre Dame for another unsuccessful season.
Brian's Fellows - GM Braun really drops the ball on draft day, as every single one of his players gets auto-picked based on yahoo rank. After each selection at the 1965 podium, GM Braun follows the exact same practice of repeating the players name, then with a befuddled look on his face, mutters "That's crazy" then remains in a catatonic state until his time expires. A psychiatric evaluation comes back "inconclusive" at season's end. ("Inconclusive? That's crazy" - Braun)
South Side Hitmen - GM Martin will spend long hours on the phone with his son Ryan trying to help him get past his glaring team name contradiction. "We are kind of a dynasty" Ryan will say, and GM Martin will be torn between breaking his son's heart and agreeing and pacifying his son so that he may get some decent sleep every night. These long phone calls take their fantasy toll, and the SSHM don't make the 2011 playoffs.
The Ozzie Guillens - GM Sutor is the biggest cub fan in the league. If he is to have any 2011 success, this unfortunate burden must be lifted.
2011 is all about The Giant Killers
