At the halfway point of our season, I named our first and second team fantasy league all-stars. Now that we've reached the MLB All-Star Break, let's see how the list has changed.
1st Team (In honor of the all-star game, we'll call our better team "American")
C - Joe Mauer, Trolley Dodgers - Grade: 65 Mauer's grade has lowered since last time I looked at this data, but Victor Martinez's injury places Mauer on our first team list. Congrats to TJ on having the best catcher... too bad he is actually worse than Cody Ross, Johnny Gomes, and Austin Jackson to name a few....
1B - Miguel Cabrera, Brian's Fellows - Grade: 97 Miggy is still the best firstbaseman and now he is the best overall hitter.
2B - Robinson Cano, L-Trains - Grade: 85 Robby has come down to earth lately but he is still the best second baseman in the game.
SS - Hanley Ramirez, The Dynasty - Grade: 79 Hanley replaces an injured Troy Tulowitzki although he is slightly better than Tulo was when the original team came out.
3B - David Wright, Giant Killers - Grade: 87 Wright has passed a slumping Longoria with his recent hot streak. A big question mark coming into 2010, Wright has proven the doubters wrong (more on that tomorrow).
LF - Carl Crawford, South Side Hit Men - Grade: 93 Crawford boots Braun to move onto the first team.
CF - Alex Rios, L-Trains - Grade: 84 Rios is still the second best CF/RF in fantasy baseball (to Hamilton), but of course he is not an MLB All-Star.
RF - Josh Hamilton, OzzieGuillens - Grade: 93 Hamilton was the starting RF with an 84 in the last rankings.
DH - Albert Pujols, L-Trains - Grade: 86 Pujols still trails Cabrera at first, and is the fifth best hitter behind Cabrera, Hamilton, Crawford, and Wright.
SP - Roy Halladay, Rise of Wang - Grade: 100 Halladay is the best fantasy baseball player thanks to his 50% CG rate.
Our "American" team contains to 5 of the 9 AL All-Star starters and 3 of the NL starters. Good work fan voting. Too bad Rios wasn't in the top 15 among AL outfielders and didn't even make the AL team.
2nd Team ("National")
C - Brian McCann, Brian's Fellows - Grade: 60 McCann is a below average fantasy baseball player, but he is the second best catcher. This is why I don't care who is my catcher- they are worthless.
1B - Justin Morneau, South Side Hit Men - Grade: 85 Morneau was replaced by Pujols on the first team, but is not far behind him.
2B - Martin Prado, Trolley Dodgers - Grade: 79 Prado passes Kelly Johnson.
SS - Alex Gonzalez, Brian's Fellows - Grade: 72 Another horribly weak position especially with Rollins' injuries, Gonzalez takes this spot as Hanley moved up to take Tulo's spot on the first team.
3B - Evan Longoria, The Dynasty - Grade: 85 Longoria was bumped from the first team, but remains solid.
LF - Adam Dunn, L-Trains - Grade: 81 Dunn's latest homer barrage puts him ahead of Ryan Braun.
CF - Torii Hunter, Trolley Dodgers - Grade: 81 Hunter passes Trolley Dodger teammate Vernon Wells.
RF - Vladimir Guerrero, Trolley Dodgers - Grade: 83 Vlad has his eyes on Rios' spot on the first team.
DH - Joey Votto, Giant Killers - Grade: 83 Votto is the 4th best firstbaseman.
SP - Adam Wainwright, Rise of Wang - Grade: 98 Wain-o passes Ubaldo to make the second team. Ubaldo is the 4th best overall fantasy player with a grade of 95.
Two more AL starters made the second team (Vlad and Longo)... the only ones missing are Jeter (Grade: 70) who fell to 3rd among SS this time around and Ichiro (Grade: 67) who... well he's better than Mauer. Prado makes 4 for the NL. The other 5 with their grades are Howard 75, Braun 81, Ethier 75, Hart 78, and Molina 42 (third worst fantasy player among qualifiers haha).
